Common questions
Your insurance plan may require you to submit a billing code when processing your reimbursement claim. You can reference Natural Cycles by the HCPCS Level II code A9293,
“Fertility cycle (contraception & conception) tracking software application, fda cleared, per month, includes accessories (e.g., thermometer)”.
For healthcare professionals, we recommend prescribing “12 units” for the units of service as the majority of Natural Cycles users activate an Annual subscription for this birth control method.
We have seen successful reimbursements when referencing ‘Z30.8’ as the diagnosis code.
We recommend reaching out to your insurance company to confirm if a prescription is required. Generally, it is recommended that you obtain a prescription from your healthcare provider.
If your insurance provider requires a prescription, we recommend that you share this resource with your doctor.

Plans and issuers are required to cover, at no cost, at least one form of contraception within each of the contraceptive categories identified by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Coverage requirements vary and your prescription may need to come from an in-network doctor.
At this time, unfortunately, Medicaid plans do not cover Natural Cycles.
According to the latest guidance issued by the Department of Labor in 2022, all FDA-approved, cleared, or granted contraceptive products should be covered, but most insurance policies have only acknowledged the mandate and adjusted their policies effective June 1, 2022. We recommend submitting your subscription plans dated June 2022 and after to your insurance provider for reimbursement. You can also check your plan’s effective date by visiting the contraceptive policy on your insurance portal or calling the number on the back of your insurance card.
