Part of our mission at Natural Cycles is to empower you to take charge of your health. If you’ve been using the app for a while, you’ve probably seen that there’s a lot of cycle data in there, and we wanted to make it even easier for you to know what you should do with it. After gathering user feedback, we set out to provide personalized, relevant, and actionable insights that are easy to understand.

That’s why we recently did a major update to Cycle Insights, adding some of our most requested functionalities. With the release of the Cycle Insights update, here are some of the newest features you can find in the app:

1. Cycle Report

How many times has your doctor asked when your last period started? Only every time, right? That’s because your cycle data can be an important indicator of reproductive and overall health. On top of this, if you’re trying to discuss some troubling symptoms or have questions about something you’ve been experiencing, it can be hard to remember everything AND accurately convey what you’ve been going through to your doctor.

That’s why we created the Cycle Report. It’s a PDF document that you can export directly from the app to share with your healthcare provider, compiling data — including symptoms and other trackers — from your last six cycles.

Whether you’ve noticed the occasional cycle irregularity or have more severe symptoms, we hope this document can be a helpful tool so you can have the right conversations with your healthcare provider.

2. Cycle history — with trackers!

Do those breakouts happen at the same time each month or are they random? Is there a logic to which days you feel the most outgoing and confident? Our aim is to remove the guesswork.

Now you can see your past cycles stacked on top of each other in History — and you can toggle your trackers on and off to easily compare and spot patterns. The better you understand what changes during your cycle, the better you can ride the wave of hormones and plan ahead to optimize your well-being.

3. Alerts for irregularities

There are a lot of things that happen with our bodies that can leave us wondering, “Is this normal?” When it comes to reproductive health, a wide range of things are considered medically normal. And yet, it’s important to know when something might need your attention.

The Natural Cycles app will now alert you if your key cycle metrics fall outside the medical norms (as defined by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, ACOG). One-time occurrences are labeled as atypical. If something is atypical for a longer period of time and becomes a pattern, then you’ll get an irregular alert to let you know you might want to talk to your doctor about it (if you haven’t already). This is a great time to have your Cycle Report handy.

4. Optimize your well-being by cycle phase

We don’t believe that your menstrual cycle is something you should have to suffer through. Each phase of your cycle is inherently different as your hormone levels naturally change. You can optimize your well-being by learning how to lean into your unique strengths in each phase — that also includes rest and recovery at times!

On the Today page, you’ll always see a cycle facts card below your fertility status telling you a bit about the current phase. We’ve expanded these cards to give you more useful information at a glance.

Further down on Today, there’s also a button to go more in-depth about whichever phase you’re in. There, you’ll find out what’s happening with your hormones and what you can do in terms of nutrition, exercise, rest, and productivity to make the most of this time.

5. Trends

The longer you’ve been using Natural Cycles, the more data you have at your fingertips. After listening to lots of user feedback, we updated the Trends view to make it easier to compare your long-term cycle data and see the bigger picture. You can observe patterns in your average stats over months and even years, to notice if and how your key cycle metrics change. Prepare to get nerdy 🤓.

My journey with Natural Cycles

While I was on a six-month hike in New Zealand, I ran out of birth control and didn’t have access to buy more. But after a couple of months, I realised how much I preferred no longer putting hormones into my body! I felt lighter, more in tune with my cycle, and enjoyed knowing my emotions weren’t being swayed by medication.

Being in a relationship, I still wanted some form of birth control, and stumbled across Natural Cycles online. It was the perfect solution: FDA-cleared, hormone-free, and well-supported by science. I didn’t realise how empowering this journey would be, and I haven’t looked back once!

Moving to the NC° Band

The NC° Band is a wearable device that records body temperature, heart rate, and motion to measure your resting body temperature while you are asleep. The readings can then be synced with the Natural Cycles app upon waking.

I am not the best sleeper, and regularly wake up throughout the night. Because you need to have 3-4 hours of consecutive sleep to take your basal body temperature with the thermometer, I often wouldn’t be able to take a reliable reading in the morning, or would need to spend time calculating if I had enough sleep or not.

The best part of moving to the NC° Band is that the device takes my temperature without my input, and it knows if I haven’t slept enough for an accurate reading. Because of this, the NC° Band has improved my sleeping habits. Now, if I wake up in the night, I can let myself fall back asleep without doing calculations or worrying that it will affect my temperature readings.

All I need to remember is to put the device on each night and sync in the morning. I leave the NC° Band on my nightstand as a reminder, and pop it on before I read my book for the evening. I have to admit, I can be a bit forgetful in the mornings. So it helps to know the device can store up to 2-3 weeks of temperature readings for you to sync when you get the chance. (Try to sync the app daily, or as often as you can, so the algorithm has access to your most recent data!) The charge on the band lasts a long time, too. It says it lasts for 14 days, but I’ve only needed to charge it, at most, once per month, and the app shows me the battery status, so it is easy to keep on top of.

The NC° Band itself is very comfortable to wear. I have sensitive skin, and the fabric doesn’t irritate my skin at all. The adjustable sliding strap makes it easy to get the right fit and uses a non-snag fastener, which is very appreciated when you have long hair that catches easily!

The new year is here, and like many of us, you might be a few weeks into your 2026 New Year’s resolutions. Whether you’re working on a new routine or building on an existing one, accountability is key. We’ve added new lifestyle trackers to the app — one of our most requested features — to make tracking habits even easier for you!

You’ll find the new trackers with the existing ones — press the plus icon to open the Add Data screen, where you can also log pain and symptoms, moods and emotions, write your own notes, and more. Without further ado, here are six new trackers to log in 2026:

1. Walking

Whatever your fitness goals in 2026, don’t underestimate the impact walking can have on your health. Whether you clock those steps tidying up at home or out on a hike, they all add up.

There might be days when less intense activity, like walking, feels like the right thing for your body — especially around your period. If you’re looking to sync your activities to your cycle phase, look for the new exercise and nutrition recommendations on the Today tab. (Everyone is different, so if you feel like doing something else, go for it!)

2. Strength training

A lot of exercise-based resolutions focus on cardio, but strength training is also important for our health and longevity. It doesn’t have to mean lifting weights at the gym — it can be anything from pilates to resistance bands to carrying a toddler.

Whether you’re in your 20s or 40s, strength training to maintain or build lean muscle mass is great for your body. And if you’re in perimenopause, it can help boost your mood, support bone health, and for some, improve symptoms like hot flashes.

3. Rest day

While regular exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, it’s equally important to remember that rest and recovery are crucial for reaping the benefits of your workouts — and keeping a new exercise routine sustainable.

So when you log “Rest day” in the NC° app, take a moment to congratulate yourself for making space for your body to recover.

4. Other activity

We tend to think about exercise as the only movement that “counts” or is worth tracking. However, engaging in varied baseline activity (i.e., non-sedentary time) throughout the day is extremely beneficial.

That’s why we created a tracker for other kinds of meaningful movement. It can be a sport not listed or a non-sport physical activity, like gardening, playing with kids, reorganizing your closet, etc. Remember, you can also use the notes section below the trackers to add more info about the type of activity you did that day. Here, you can also record how you felt.

5. Alcohol

We all know alcohol can change how we feel — sometimes positively while we’re enjoying it, and sometimes negatively the day after. Have you ever considered how it might affect your mood or symptoms? Now we’ve added it as a lifestyle tracker, so you can log it the day you drink alcohol to help spot correlations and trends over time.

If you’ll be reintroducing alcohol after a dry January, tracking how you feel can be an interesting way to compare what you notice with and without alcohol.

Remember that if you feel hungover the day after you drink, you should also log hungover in the app to exclude your temperature.

6. Mindfulness

Whether you’re already settled in a mindfulness practice, or are creating a new routine for yourself in the new year, this is a great one to log. Mindfulness — however it looks for you — can benefit both mind and body, and be a great way to combat stress.

Did you know that stress can affect your menstrual cycle? By keeping track of activities like meditation, body scans, or just noticing what your senses are taking in at any given moment, you’ll be able to see if patterns emerge in your cycle or symptoms over time. Maybe you experience fewer mood swings the more you meditate? Maybe you feel less tired? Tracking can lead to insights that guide you to better wellness.

If you don’t see them, make sure they’re turned on under Menu > Settings > Trackers.
