An EU Notified Body and the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have classified Natural Cycles as a medical device intended for use as contraception. In Europe Natural Cycles is classified as a class IIb medical device and in the US as class II. This puts the app in the same category as the condom. All manufacturers of medical devices in class IIb in Europe or class II in the US are subject to assessments and audits performed in regular intervals.
